We want to let you know about an upcoming browser security change that may affect printing for customers who use QZ Tray.
Google Chrome is rolling out an update (starting with Chrome 147) that adds extra security checks when a website connects to local software like QZ Tray. This change will affect all QZ Tray users once the update reaches your browser.
What you’ll notice
The first time you print after this update, Chrome will show a new pop‑up asking for permission to connect to your local network.
Even though QZ Tray only connects to your own computer (not other devices), the message may sound concerning. If this pop‑up is blocked, printing will not work until it is allowed.
What you need to do
When you see the new Chrome pop‑up, choose “Allow”
Printing will then continue to work as normal
No other setup or changes are required
Why this is happening
This change comes from new browser security rules designed to protect users from malicious activity. While well‑intended, they are being rolled out quickly and apply broadly—including to trusted tools like QZ Tray.
We recommend letting your staff know about this ahead of time so it doesn’t interrupt printing.
We’ll share more guidance if anything changes. If you have questions or need help, please contact us anytime.
Thank you,
